“Departure from the Seine” is not a usable boarding address. Paris has multiple operators, several riverside ports and separate entrances close to the same landmarks. Before leaving your hotel, match the operator, booked service and exact departure point. A familiar boat name or a nearby Eiffel Tower photo on a ticket listing is not enough to identify the queue.
This guide is about finding the correct entrance across operators. For a detailed comparison of boats specifically near the tower, use our existing Eiffel Tower departure guide.
The main boarding locations to distinguish
| Operator or service | Location to check | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Bateaux Parisiens Eiffel Tower services | Port de la Bourdonnais, 75007 Paris | Select the operator’s entrance, not just the Eiffel Tower landmark |
| Bateaux Mouches | Port de la Conférence near Pont de l’Alma | A different operator and boarding area from Bateaux Parisiens |
| Bateaux Parisiens Notre-Dame sightseeing | The Notre-Dame departure specified on that product’s practical-information sheet | The operator name alone does not imply an Eiffel Tower departure |
| Batobus | One of the stops on its official station map | A river transport station, not a dining-cruise check-in desk |
| Other dining boats or combined tickets | The address and meeting instructions in the booking confirmation | Do not borrow an address from another product or its attraction component |
Port de la Bourdonnais: use the operator’s directions
Bateaux Parisiens gives its address as Port de la Bourdonnais, 75007 Paris. Its official practical page lists Bir-Hakeim and Trocadéro Metro stations and Champ de Mars–Tour Eiffel on RER C as transport options. These are approaches to the area, not promises of a particular walking time or step-free route.
Set navigation to the departure address, then check the entrance and boarding instructions on your ticket. Do not join a nearby boat queue merely because it is beside the tower. The Bateaux Parisiens vs Bateaux Mouches comparison explains when this pier location should influence your operator choice.
Port de la Conférence: look for Bateaux Mouches
Bateaux Mouches identifies its pier as Port de la Conférence, close to Pont de l’Alma. This is not an alternative entrance for a Bateaux Parisiens ticket. The difference matters particularly when a map search for “Paris cruise” shows several results and your group follows the first one without checking the company name.
Save the actual ticket and pier instructions rather than only a screenshot of the landmark. On arrival, compare the operator sign with the name on your confirmation before joining the queue. A sightseeing queue and a restaurant-cruise check-in can have different procedures even when they belong to the same company.
Batobus: choose a station, not a round-trip cruise pier
Batobus currently lists nine stops: Tour Eiffel, Invalides, Musée d’Orsay, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Notre-Dame, Jardin des Plantes, Hôtel de Ville, Louvre and Place de la Concorde. Its FAQ says an online ticket can be used from any stop on the route, so you do not generally have to start at the Eiffel Tower.
Choose your station using the official route map and current operating information. The station name describes the nearby neighbourhood or attraction; you still need the riverbank boarding entrance. Our Batobus review and planning guide covers whether this format fits your day. Do not confuse its stations with check-in points for a fixed dinner reservation.
The last part of the route needs its own time allowance
Public transport brings you to street level or a station, not necessarily to the ticket scanner. Allow for crossing to the correct riverbank, descending to the quay and walking to the entrance. A taxi drop-off beside a bridge can still leave a final walk. Use the operator’s access guidance if you need lifts, gentler slopes or a route without stairs.
For mobility requirements, consult our accessibility planning guide and confirm the particular departure with the operator. Nearby streets being accessible does not prove that the quay entrance, gangway and boat facilities meet your needs.
Your boarding checklist
- Operator: match the name on the reservation with the sign at the entrance.
- Service: distinguish sightseeing, lunch, dinner and hop-on-hop-off transport.
- Address: save the full departure instructions, including any pontoon or meeting-point reference.
- Time: use the boarding deadline, not departure time, as your arrival target.
- Ticket: have the required QR code or confirmation available; check whether a voucher must be exchanged.
- Access: identify the riverbank entrance and any stairs or route restrictions before travelling.
The sailing-and-boarding time guide helps you leave enough room around the reservation. Our queue and skip-the-line guide explains why advance booking does not always remove security or boarding checks.
Combined tickets may have more than one meeting point
A cruise-and-attraction booking does not necessarily begin at one shared entrance. Read the instructions for each component separately and allow for the journey between them. Our cruise and Eiffel Tower sequencing guide covers the order of the activities; the Eiffel Tower and Seine cruise combo details describe the listed package.
